Calculate Selling On ebay Fees
For any Selling on ebay format, there are 4 kinds of fees:
Now let us go and focus on Selling on ebay auction format Fees: Let us have a look on this screen shot: Now we are discussing insertion fees
There are several selling on ebay categories with different selling fees, but most of the categories fall on the fees structure shown in the picture above. Now let us have some examples Example #1: In this example, I will put in my listing a starting price only. I will not use a buy it now price nor a reserve price. How much my insertion fees will be??. Take a look on the screen shot below
In the shot above, I put the starting price $10.00. If you go back to the fees table in the top of this page, You will find that the insertion fees for this starting price is $0.55. if you are going to list your item without any listing upgrades [like an extra picture], your insertion fees will be $0.55 only.
Example #2: In this example, I will put in my listing a starting price and a buy it now price. How much my selling on ebay insertion fees will be??. Take a look on the screen shot below;
If you go back to the fees table in the top of this page, You will find that the insertion fees for this starting price is $0.55. Fees for adding a buy it now to the auction format is constant whatever the buy it now price and is only $0.25. Total insertion fees for this listing is 0.55+0.25=$0.80
Example #3: In this example, I will put in my listing a starting price and reserve price. How much my selling on ebay insertion fees will be??. Take a look on the screen shot below; Here i have put the starting price as 49.99 and reserve price as 100.
Fees for this starting price [as in Top Page table] is $1.00. Fees for reserve price [as in above table] is $2.00. Total insertion fees for this listing is 1+2=$3.00.
Now you listed your item and paid your insertion fees. If your item is not sold, you don’t pay anything else. If your item is sold, you will pay final value fees. The following table shows the Final value fee structure:
As in Table, If for example, your item sells for 100 dollars, you will pay 8.75% for the first 25 dollars and then 3.5% for the remaining 75 dollars. To calculate: 8.75% of 25= 2.19. 3.5% of 75 = 2.62. Total final value fees= 2.19 + 2.62 = $4.81.
Now your customer is going to pay you using paypal. You have to pay paypal fees. [Note: paypal fees is applied to the total money you will receive from the buyer [selling price and shipping price] while final value fees applies to the selling price only.
The most common rate for beginners is 2.9 % + 0.30 USD. When your monthly sales increase, the 2.9% will decrease. Assume that the total price of your item including shipping is 120 dollars. You pay 0.30 constant rate plus 2.9% of the 120 dollars. Total is 0.30 + 3.48 = 3.78.
Now Let us have a simple exercise You decided to sell on eBay certain product or item. You listed this item as an auction format. The starting price was 75 dollars and the buy it now price was 225 dollars. Shipping for this item is 10 dollars. Your auction ends and your item was sold for 190 dollars. Your buyer paid you through paypal. Calculate all the fees associated with this transaction. Please refer to Fees tables throughout this page: Insertion Fees: Fees for the starting price [75] is $2.00 and buy it now fees is $0.25. Total insertion fees = 2+0.25=2.25 Final value fees for $190 = $7.965. Paypal fees for $200 [$190 Selling price +10 Shipping]= $3.20. Total fees associated with this transaction is: 2.25+7.965+3.20 = $13.145
