Before going to details of selling on ebay, I would like to simply explain how eBay works for buyers. Most of the buyers, when go to eBay to buy something, they do a simple search for the product they want to buy. Usually they don’t browse Different eBay categories nor they do advanced search. This is a waste of time for them. When they do their search and they find your listings, this will be the first step to make a sale. Let me assume that a buyer is going to buy a baby video monitor, how he will look for it.. Follow my screen shots:

When the buyer goes to ebay.com, he will always search for the product he want to buy on ebay search box. Here in the above picture the buyer is looking for a baby video monitor. He will then click search and look for the results.

Now as you can see in the above screenshot, different listings for the baby video monitor will appear in the search result.The buyer will first look on the picture and price, and then check the listing format, is it auction or buy it now?? He will then look on the shipping price. Finally if he is satisfied with on of these listings, he will click on it to check the description and the seller reputation.
The bottom line, if you are going to list an item for selling on ebay you have to target what buyers are looking for. This will include:
1. Their search words [baby video monitor in this example].
2. Good price
3. Good Picture
4. Good shipping price.
5. Excellent seller reputation [100% Feedback].
Now if the buyer is interested in your listing, he will either place a bid or buy your listing using Buy It Now.
